Brick life is not always bright.

Brick builds are usually cheerful, bright and happy. That is not always the case. More serious and gloomy builds are pretty rare, and even rarer when done such well, as this MOC by Mike M.

There is so much depth in this build  and so much emotions. You can feel depression of the figure in the photo, and it’s need to escape the pain.  There are moments in life it can also resonate with me  very deeply,

From the brighter sides, notice the illusion on the walls that makes lines seem to not be parallel.  Great build!

Strongolder

Strongholder is a creature that is like living stronghold. Something like Ent is walking tree, Strongholder is a walking Castle. I see here some inspiration with one of the latest mixel series, but Crises claims it was inspired by some other toy. Either way it is crazy enough to be posted here.

Postcard from the past – Chibi VW Beetle in classic space style.

Remember the VolksWagen Beetle Expert set 10252 that was recently released? Luigi Priori has just built chibi version of it in a classic space style. Then the photo is stylized into 70’s postcard with a flower-power uncled of Benny the Spaceman as the driver.

Luigi admits he got inspired by Gerald Cacas with his chibi version of the Beetle built right after announcement of the 10252 set. The picture is stylized in a way of Benny’s adventures Luigi is publishing for some time. But that is a story for another post.

Hercules – The Spaceship

Michał Kaźmierczak aka Migalart is building a spaceship fleet for his brick built comic book. He surely can photo edit to make his creations look great.

But if you want to admire the build more than pretty photo here is the version that will let you look at the great greebling. Notice how the small windows were made with plain 1×1 transparent plates and some gray tape.

I’m sure this is not the last time we will host Michał here. Oh and as a bonus, take a look at the ship from his comic in microscale:

Microscale Herley Quinn

It seems it is superheroes week. We have posted some great superhero MOCs already, but this time it is time for a microscale. This version of Harley Quinn by Grantmasters is not much smaller than minifig, but it has some interesting NPUs and has definetely better body shapes than minifigs.

This is one of those MOCs that proves that you do not need a ton of bricks to make something absolutely amazing!

Shoebird

NPU is finding new usage for parts, usually usage that is not so obvious. There are people who find it the highest form of LEGO Bricks art. I’m one of them, so i culdn’t pass this MOC by Moko.

The most prominent part in this build is the beak that comes from General Grevious constraction figure 75112, but without eyes made out of One Ring from LOTR/Hobbit and part introduced as Unikity tail, the bird wouldn’t be as grat as it is.

Also foots are very clever build, that can be easily missed if you admire the head.

More pictures at Moko’s blog, including building hints. There is also interesting read if you can read Japanese.

Batman vs Joker in Gotham Theater Showdown

Brickbaron also known as Paul Heterington on Flicker, has build his version of 1950’s batman comic book cover.  Paul is Art Deco lover, and that shows in the MOC.

At first i was amazed with all those ornaments on the walls. Triangle road sign use to build columns is also pretty clever. Floor mosaic near entrance is mesmerizing. There is also a lot of action in this diorama. Joker is attacking with gas that makes cops burst into uncontrollable laughter, Batman and Robin are coming up to the rescue.

It would be cool as it is, but Paul brought the scene to life  with clever use of power functions!

That build is crazy! If we were awarding Crazy Build of the month reward, this diorama would probably take it. Hey! Maybe we actually should start awarding such awards?

In the meantime take a look at some closeups on Paul’s Flickr.
